Started in the late 1800s, the Cape Cod Baseball League was originally made up of men from local towns. Various towns were represented and the teams representing the towns played games against one another. Now, the Cape League recruits college players from colleges and universities around the country to play ball, providing them with the opportunity to “get discovered.” Scouts from the major leagues watch these young players. On average, 1 in 6 major league players played in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
There is no admission to attend the baseball games, although donations are greatly appreciated. The games provide nighttime, family fun entertainment for locals and summertime visitors to the Cape. Don’t forget to hold on to your program. One of the players you watch could make it to the big time!
